Facebook "Don don't be evil"? [Media Monday]

Currently the growth of Facebook has all of the world by storm – any doubt?

Me it seems like a giant is growing fast, feeding on what people as he promises to entertain you give it, but may be a real giant, who will feed these people eventually turn out! I say this because the hunger of Facebook is increasing every day (or tell feature by feature). As a private company, revenue grew from $700 million (2009) to $2 billion in just one year (ridiculous isn't?).

What I am also concerned about the monopoly, now that much about Google me's launch is delayed spoken get and I wonder whether first or not start it (fear of bad)!

So many things are being said against Facebook a complete wiki page for same we have (LOL not?).

Facebook could actually drag the effect of social media by enabling brands / people to promote and engage users by starting the amazing concept "Page" and the API's opening, so that millions of people to waste their time building "Villes" and buying counterfeit currencies in the exchange of real one's.
Before that everyone clearly money said monetizing social media, but no one was allowed to even sightliest closer what Facebook could do!

But still, I would love to see Facebook, not always Evil…

My concerns are, because some recent developments, which I personally analysed have

Recently, Facebook said you share user's personal data with app developers only, you better reasons to use Facebook API. This would mean, share your contact information, such as cell phone number and address with any developer of whose app that you use.

This message creates a backlash (of course) and Facebook initially said, is to fear no need as developers only access information, could explicitly you grant users permission but temporarily suspended on this activity.

Facebook has this habit of notorious things first enable and the backlash see undo.

The other thing which I recognized analysis of our own page on Facebook lately, that is to create a Web link for each State in the world that is worth selling.

Here's why when a status message on one side, we are different actions, namely as can be, annotate, share and promote. I have analyzed depending on whether the status update with a link is supported / picture / video or not Facebook fills, either "Share" or "Promotion".

I didn't know it until I tried to figure out why my plain status messages (without any links/images) always were less impressions as such with links/images.
What have I understood that was for each status message without links/images is NULL option to "share" but only "to promote".

When I click "promote clicked", opened the "create an ad" page that simply created my page full color ad with my status message as content. This should be an early indicator what you have in mind - each darn status possible for sale!

In other news, Facebook, said they are going, sponsored "to launch new ad platform of stories with user data". He said, "the social networking site sponsored stories, a new format for advertising debut is by using your friends actions and implement in advertised material." U cannot infer anything about this. Well, it took me 2-3 reads, and attempt a status update from a friend actually connect, you have to do.

Here is an excerpt of the same-

Department cooperates with companies such as bing, trip Advisor, Levi's, coke etc. and you "instant personalization" do for you. This means that what sell and your friends data can be shared with these companies so that you make your advertising more effectively 'auto' by default. Personal data may be affected directly, but indirectly and confusing way.

Tip: If you don't want this you need by manually "turn it off" going to account-> privacy-settings-> edit settings for apps and website (bottom of the page)-> "Edit settings" for instant personalization-> disable check box... [Woof... would you your head a hundred times before finding this ram]

Heart of the matter - Facebook privacy settings and personalization as complex "make" is that it will go beyond the understanding of ordinary people like me and you. Or may a course in B-schools, easy to understand what FB privacy settings are there?

Reading to the end user just rests "Accept, accept and accept" (future) normal 60 odd million and just leave "Cry, cry, cry" critics!
